Engaging characters. . .

I've read the previous two books in this series and find each more delightful than the one before. The glimpse of 18th century culture is fascinating (and I hope accurate). The plot moves quickly, but it is the characters whom I enjoy most.
Perhaps I should withhold a star for annoying errors--hardy for hearty (repeatedly), artisan for Artesian, and more. But I was able to forgive the mild distractions.
A good read for lovers of romance and history. The time travel is not intrusive. Perhaps a rather light read for the sober-sided.

I love me some time travel, and I absolutely loved Truscott’s first in this series, “Out of Time.” I wasn’t too crazy about the second book, but this one fared much better – in some ways.
Peter Finch and Julie Howell, he being from the revolutionary era and she being from the current time, venture through the portal we have come to know and love, and the adventure begins. As does the romance.
I’ll skip the synopsis, but just say this: I am not crazy about mysteries or treasure hunts, which this is, but I love historical romance, which this also is. There is excessive detail which I found unnecessary and plodding, mostly about the description of the countryside, and the unraveling of the mysterious treasure. I skipped most of this, which was at least a third of the book. I don’t feel I missed anything. The romance was lovely, although a bit simplistic. I didn’t care for how much Julie loved living in the late 1700’s when most of what she did was cooking and cleaning, but that’s just me….Peter is a wonderful H, and his growing concern and love for Julie was very touching and very romantic. I think it was worth it just to read about him.
It was still nice to “see” characters from the first book, and for that I was very satisfied. I hope this author continues to write in this genre, but I so miss the delight and charm of her first book. Truscott certainly has the talent to write a great story.

Hurrah for the third book!

book three is a winner!!! Loved the first two books and this one holds the standard. The author depicts Peter as wonderful as Robert. Who wouldn't fall in love with them!! The women and the historic elements are page turners. Hope Deboral Truscott keeps the series going....can't wait for the next book!!
