Wonderful

Until You by Jeannie Moon is an intricate story about love, passion, starting over by learning from our mistakes. Kate and Laura do this as mother and daughter, then as individuals on their own. I found this mother and daughter to be realistically portrayed. As the story progresses, it clearly shows the relationship that had been forced upon them and how they both change. Even the ex-husband and father of Laura, Richard seemed authentic; cruel, yes, but realistic. He scared me more than a little which is my only complaint. I would have been happier if he has winded up in jail. More than once, I wanted to yell for Kate to change her locks and insisting that Laura not share the codes with him.

The younger/older romance is so well developed. David Burke for all his success in the hockey rink and nice boy ways needed the stability of Kate. His previous causal choices were amateurish at best, nightmarish at worst. Over the course of the story, he seemed to grow and mature, just as Kate grew in her confidence and ability to stand up for herself.

The plot has some interesting turn of events. I expected a showdown with the ex-husband but here were other emotional moving unexpected ones. The second story line with Laura parallels her mother’s story until they both connected. This is awesome how it was planned and executed by the author. Impressive.

Family dynamics with a woman coming into her own is at the heart of this story. It is a well-written updated and contemporary take on relationships and life. I did not find it to be predictable which I thought at first it might be. Thinking of that, I believe fans of Danielle Steele or Nora Roberts will love to discover this author.

Another Great One!!

Kate is divorced, alone, has no relationship with her daughter, and is turning forty. For years her ex has put her down, and humiliated her and she doesn't even realize it. And now he wants full custody of their 17 yr old daughter. The only joy she has is her writing. As an acclaimed author, she has the adoration of many. Why can't her daughter respect her?

David is the face of the Flyers. As a professional hockey player, David has any girl he wants. Then he takes a bet that will change his life forever. He has been thinking about his life and wanting more. A home, and family. At 29, he feels it's time. 

When they meet it is an instant connection, and one that David can't forget. Even after finding out her age, he still wants to be with her. But she has her own problems and doesn't see how they can make it work. Can David show her what it really means to love and be loved as you should be? Will Kate accept David and all his past, to become the woman she is meant to be with him? 

Throughout their journey, these two experience blinding lust, extreme joy, and heartshredding sadness. You will be swept away as they fight to overcome all the obstacles in their way to find lasting happiness. Truly enjoyed this great story!!

Fantastic!!

I read this book as an ARC from NetGalley, and devoured it. There were three consecutive late nights (because that was the only time I had to read) and I can tell you that I have never been so happy to be this exhausted.

I knew that I loved Jeannie’s writing after finishing Second Chance Hero, but oh my goodness. Watching as Kate struggled with the aftermath of her douche-bag husband’s affair and the subsequent divorce was such a roller coaster of emotion for me. I swear that I was ready to kick her ex-husband’s ass myself by the time I got halfway through the book. The man is so frustratingly evil and manipulative, and then just so completely clueless by the end of the book that I just…I cheered. I won’t lie. I won’t give spoilers, but…there are a few scenes where I cheered.

The story also examines the relationship between Kate and her daughter, Laura, who struggles with handling the divorce. Kate doesn’t want to spoil the relationship between father and daughter, understanding that connection is important for her daughter, but her lack of truth just frustrates Laura. It’s really fun to watch their relationship evolve.

The chemistry between Kate & David Burke, the famous hockey player, was simply off-the-charts-hot. There are a lot of obstacles in their way, and the age difference is just one of them. David is adorable and sweet, clueless at times, but…endearing. The back and forth between these two was so insane that I couldn’t.put.the.book.down.

Wayne Norwood is a retired police Lieutenant in south Louisiana. Unforgettable Historical Fiction!

Richard Ben Sapir is a master of historical fiction and "Quest" is his masterpiece. This simply is one of the best novels I have ever read. "Quest" is the modern-day search for the Holy Grail. The Cup of Christ is followed throughout history, resulting in the rise and fall of governments, fortunes won and lost, and inevitably, murder and international intrigue. The characters are extremely engaging and actually became a part of me as I read. If you enjoyed "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," find and absorb this thriller.
Another exellent novel by Richard Ben Sapir-"The Body," a novel of historical fiction set in context of an archeological dig. A crucified body is discovered in a rich man's tomb; the discovery reveals information that changes the lives of all in the encounter. Breathtaking and spiritually enriching!

The quest is as engrossing as it is educational. It has elements of "The Death of Arthur", "The Source", and "Indiana Jones and Last Crusade". The story is richly told, the villian truly evil and yet fascinating. It is such a good story, well told, that I recently ordered a replacement for the volume I lost when I loaned it a friend. A long time fan of "The Destroyer" series, I found this book to be an elegant departure.

Little Known Gem

Imagine a search for the Holy Grail, with the pure-of-heart "knight" an ex-cheerleader from Ohio and the "Arthurian" figure a New York City Cop. Throw in a James Bond-like Brit, lots of lore about jewels through history, mix with humor, suspense, and a love story, and you have this witty, intelligent thriller, which makes the Da Vinci Code look like simplistic nonsense it is. Although some of the contemporary references will seem a bit dated, this is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable books I've read. It's a shame it's out of print; if you find a copy, grab it, enjoy, and tell more people.

Though I'm a dyed in the wool Balazcian, his second book, "Beatrix", was not particularly one of his best. However this book was THE first best seller that put him in the public eye during his time. The overtly parrallel character of Felicite to his friend George Sand was more than a little strange, and he even mentioned George Sand several times in the text. Balzac actually ended the book halfway in the first edition, larter appending an almost completely different story with mostly new characters to the first part. A lot of his writing came out in after thoughts like this, and he did the same thing in other novels, especially the "Lost Illusions" trilogy. However in "Beatrix", Balzac mentions in passing many names of the fictional characters which appear in his later novels. So that indicates he had already outlined the major characters of his Human Comedy by the time of his second book. As always, Balzac as the narrator offers occasional gems of wisdom is his observation of human behavior in the course of telling his story.

A Few Thousand Well-Chosen Words

A French cousin recommended this book for summer reading due to its detailed descriptions of the area of France we both prefer.
It is colorful and an interesting view of the landscape and population of the salt marsh country near St Lazaire where your best sea salt is gathered but the story drags and describes people who seem to spend their time doing nothing of any significance. It is a common failing of 19th century novels in all western countries, I think. They flirt, they picnic, and they talk, talk, talk. The world is changing all around them and their gentile aristocratic culture is marching steadfastly towards a merciful extinction of which they are blissfully unaware. Makes me wonder where we are marching.
I suspect I should read it in French to appreciate his style but the subject is not terribly enlightening. I kept thinking, "Wake Up, People"!

Why I like it better than Strongs

Most concordances let you trace an English word through the Bible. But, is it really the same word? Is ``infirmity'' astheneo (weakness) or nesos (sickness) in this verse? Both Youngs and Strongs give you the Hebrew or Greek word. However, Youngs gives you all the translations of the ``original'' word, so that you can trace just that word. One English word may actually be several different Hebrew or Greek words. Likewise, one Hebrew or Greek word may actually be translated by several English words. Straighten it all out with Youngs, without having to become a language scholar.

About the Author
Kenneth Holmberg is a research professor in tribology, condition monitoring and operational reliability at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. He is Chief Engineer Councillor at the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland and a frequently used expert in the European Community and European Science Foundation research actions and programmes. Professor Holmberg is on the editorial board of five scientific journals and is frequently consulted for industrial contracts and R&D projects. Adam Adgar received his PhD in control engineering from the University of Sunderland where he worked for many years. He is an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and his main research interests are process modelling and control; artificial neural networks; water treatment; statistical process control; and condition monitoring. He is currently a senior lecturer at Teesside University . Aitor Arnaiz has a PhD in computing technologies, related to condition monitoring tasks, from the University of Sunderland. He is currently working as senior researcher and head of Tekniker's Unit of Technologies for Diagnostics and Prediction in Eibar, Spain. His current professional interests are intelligent systems in monitoring, prediction and diagnosis; machine learning; uncertainty management; and Bayesian networks. Erkki Jantunen has a PhD from Helsinki University of Technology. He works as a senior research scientist in the knowledge centre of Smart Machines at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. His research interests are related to information technology applications in maintenance engineering, condition monitoring, machine diagnostics and prognostics, and signal analysis. Julien Mascolo works for the FIAT Research Centre in Turin, Italy. He is a manager in the Infomobility Business Line for projects related to the optimisation of industrial processes: manufacturing, logistics and product development process. In the FIAT Sectors (IVECO, CNH and FIAT Group Automobiles) he is involved in the development of mobility and productivity services based on telematics, and on product lifecycle management. Samir Mekid received his PhD in Precision Engineering. He is a member and chartered engineer (CEng) of IMechE. He was a lecturer at UMIST, then The University of Manchester (UK), and is currently associate professor at KFUPM (KSA). He is engaged in multidisciplinary research activities, including precision machine design, instrumentation, sensors and metrology.

My favourite Nepal photo book has spctacular photos of Kathmandu, Chitwan, Annapurna, Upper Mustang, and Mount Everest

A large coffee-table type book featuring over 400 photos from renowned photographer Richard L'Anson. Chapters include Kathmandu and Kathmandu Valley (112 pages), Chitwan (20 pages), the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary (54 pages), Upper Mustang (20 pages), and the Mount Everest Khumbu region (51 pages). The front cover is Annapurna South Face.

Kathmandu is the largest portion of this perfect pictorial book. In addition to Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur tourist attractions, there are photos of other smaller villages in the valley and from Nagarkot. There are also photos of many of the festivals including Dasain, Indra Chatra, Holi, and Losar.

The Everest chapter includes Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Thami, Khumjung, Phortse, the Gokyo Valley, and the views from Gorak Shep and Kala Pattar.

The Annapurna chapter begins with Pokhara and Sarangkot. The views from Dhampus, Ghandruk and Poon Hill precede the photos from the Sanctuary itself.

Upper Mustang features photos from Kagbeni to Lo Manthang, pasing through Chuksang, Chele, Ghemi, Charang, Drakmar, and Tama Gaon.

This is my favourite Nepal photo book. It features all of the main tourist areas. The photos are spectacular.

Here's a coffee table book full of STUNNING pictures of Nepal. Organized by area of the country, including Mustang, it is a fascinating look at a place few of us will ever have the chance to visit.

Wonderful photos of Nepal. Photos of all the places we have been. Even though we take thousands of photos while trekking it's great to have a coffee table book that captures it all.
